15.10.2019 · option 1: Either you can manually start the Captive Portal Assistant app manually after you have connected to the WiFi network. This will bring up the captive portal popup window and you can unlock Internet access there. (Really no need to boot in recovery mode, etc. !)

20.12.2019 · When running a VPN while connecting to an Apple captive portal, the captive portal will not see the local IP address. Instead, it will see an external IP – the one of the VPN’s server. And this makes the captive portal not display or not work correctly. To fix that you can either disconnect the VPN while you connect through the captive portal.

04.02.2015 · Authenticate on the captive portal page. Unplug the phone and restart the wifi. With a bit of luck the captive portal should remember you and you should be able to use just the wifi interface. My best guess is that the DNS setup process fails (no /etc/resolv.conf file) when the captive portal firewall is not letting traffic through.
