Firebird Interactive SQL Utility

If you do not have the Firebird bin directory on your path, then either go to the bin subdirectory of your Firebird installation and type isql (Windows) or ./isql (Linux) at the command prompt, or, type the full path to the isql application to execute it.

When you run SteamSoft against this clean "security database" of FB 2.5 - it tries to login with non-existent users and fails. If this reading crystal ball was correct, then the most simple approach would be then to Uninstall SteamSoft. Verify that Firebird 2.5.8. was not uninstalled together with SS, nor de-activated.

Connecting to Firebird using ODBC - web.synametrics.com

The built-in login account in Firebird is SYSDBA with password masterkey. All security related information is stored in a special database called "security2.fdb". Firebird does not provide any programmatic access to this database from ODBC. Therefore, you cannot run SQL queries to modify existing users or add new ones.

Ask your database administrator to set up a Firebird login. You'll get this error when you try to connect with invalid username or password. If you are trying to connect to the database file directly (i.e. without the hostname: prefix) then you probably included the -user and -pass parameters, but they are not required.
