I have been launching Jupyter Notebook for years using the following command: jupyter-notebook --port=7000 --no-browser --no-mathjax When I try to open the jupyter on the browser it ask me for a password, even though I have never set any before.

The Jupyter notebook is really a wonderful tool for literal programming where you can intersperse text and code in one document. In my use-case, I don’t have the Tensorflow GPU library in my local machine so I need to run notebooks on-top of our laboratory’s server. This enabled me to decrease development time, and helped me perform fast analyses of my models.

Both in Safari and Chrome. Oddly, it tells me port 8888 is in use. Out of curiosity I hit that port because prior to a few days ago I always successfully connected via port 8888. Jupyter greets me with the password screen, except this time, the password I generated using the hash does not get accepted, despite entering it into the .config file.

What is the Jupyter shortcut key to toggle between insert and overwrite mode whilst editing? I must keep hitting it by accident and then cannot turn off overwrite mode. I have looked at the list of shortcuts in Jupyter and online, but I could not find a match. I am working on Firefox on a Linux virtual machine running on a Mac.
