06.09.2018 · I would investigate the settings for WiFi on the guest network. Disable guest portal and connect with a laptop to guest network and examine the dns settings specifically and ensure things work as expected. For guest networks I usually set dns to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Try those and see if enabling guest portal afterward works.

06.08.2020 · Second you have to enable it and configure your access control rules to match your settings. Pre-Access requires access to the server running the Unifi Portal. Post Access needs the guest Subnet 192.168.13.0/24 and anything else you may want to allow a guest to access.

Having trouble getting your guest WiFi portal working using UniFi? I did too and its most likely caused by you using a separate DHCP server on the network rather than using your USG for DHCP. Here is the fix! Go into ‘Wireless Networks’ and Edit the guest WiFi network.

I do not think enabling only the guest network controls on UniFi access points without the captive portal slows down throughput as much as enabling the captive portal. It is possible my Internet connection is slower than the amount of the reduction of throughput speed caused by enabling the guest network controls.
